Children...Are A Blessing!

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

Every Monday, our church offers an after school program for grades K-5.

it's called..

Marvelous Monday

Once the kids reach 6th grade...that's it...no more MM.

It's sad.

The children that have been there since Kindergarten are soooo upset that it's over for them.

What to do?

Well, we just aren't able to handle two outreach programs of this size and to be honest...

.Marvelous Monday wears you out!!

So, we came up with a way to bring back some of the 'older' ones.
 (6th graders)

We picked the 'best of the best'...the kids that showed us how much MM meant to them and the ones that showed the most potential as 'leaders'.
(plus the 5th graders start being 'little angels'..wanting to get picked for the next year;0)

This group became known as our YLT ...Youth Leadership Team!

Every Monday, they show up and help us with the 80 (sometimes 99) children .

They help with activities, crafts, music and snack time!

They. Are. A. Blessing.

YLT2

We like to do special things for this group when we can

Just to show them that they are Special!!
They are the future.

YLT1

...and they're just sweet kids!

We hope to plan more activities and missions for this group in the near future. It's our prayer that it will continue to grow each year and when these kids reach high school and college that they will remember their time on the YLT!

and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

wow :) I love the smiles on their faces! hehe I forget the power of a smile.

those kids really are being reached just because you are there. It is crazy to think that we (the grown ups) are training these little ones and not so little ones in the way they should go. You are a blessing! they are too! :)

I did my first post for WFW--
