We're back from a wonderful long weekend in Florida. Tropical storm Fay threatened to rain on our party, but she didn't. We seemed to have missed all of that while we were nestled in our little corner of Clearwater Beach. Our trip started Thursday. We packed up the car and headed south. It rained a little in Gainesville, but after that it was a beautiful drive. We arrived at our hotel, The Belleview Biltmore Resort & Spa. It is a majestic old place and I am so glad I chose it. It's a little scary, to be honest, but the history of the resort is what lured me to it.

Our first full day at the Biltmore gave us time to explore the hotel and grounds. It. is. huge! I have never seen such long hallways in my life!! We enjoyed the pool and the ice cream parlor in the hotel and got in some sightseeing and shopping in town. Friday night we had dinner in the beautiful Palm Grill restaurant and after dinner enjoyed music in Andrew's Pub. (totally kid friendly) We waited on our guests to arrive. Nonnie, Papa & Aunt Jo arrived first then Nana and Mr. Frank. (they had never seen such long hallways either!)
Saturday was Barrett's big day. We all traveled down to the marina to board the "Pirate's Ransom" boat. We were welcomed by the happiest pirates I have ever seen (maybe the only pirates I've ever seen). We were off on a swashbuckling good time full of singing, dancing, gun fights, treasure hunting, and of course cannon shooting!! After our adventure on the high seas we had a wonderful lunch at Crabby Bill's at the marina.
Saturday night it was back to the beach for Barrett's birthday dinner. We had a private room over looking the Gulf of Mexico and a beautiful sunset. We all enjoyed a bountiful dinner (as only pirates could) and then celebrated a little more with Captn' Bootstrap Barrett's cake. After dinner we all had a fun ride on a bicycle cart down the beach.
