We recently attended a

Boot Camp Birthday Party!!!

It was a beautiful day for the party...blue skies and sunshine!

We were greeted at the "Check Point" by soldiers.... real ones.

They gave the children 'dog tags' and waved us through!

Party4

Everyone waited their turn for the obstacle course...

Bear's (yellow shirt) checkin' it out...

...but sister

Party3

...Well, let's jut say that she was the only girl to do it!

Go Girl!!

The soldiers talked with the children about the war in Iraq and what the conditions were like living there! Three of them are scheduled to return soon...

Party1

The highlight for me, was when the Birthday Boy's Great Grandpa, chatted with the other men and swapped "war stories"...His being WWII.

The other soldiers were mezmerized...so was I!!
Party2

Then, the children had some one on one time with him.

Party4

He told them what it was like for him in Boot Camp and discussed how scared he was in the war!!

The Birthday Boy is so lucky to have such a figure in his life....

....and we were lucky to share him for a day!!

God Bless America!!

What a fabulous idea for a little boy's birthday party. My son would have loved that when he was a little boy. Being the rambunctious type, with a June birthday, we always had active, outdoor parties for him. lol
